A Unique gesture of benevolence: Dubai crown prince takes a crippled Palestinian on a cruise

Jul 29, 2010 - 06:47 -

WAM Dubai, Jul 29th, 2010 (WAM) -- In a noble expression of benevolence, the Dubai Crown Prince H.H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met with a young Palestinian who was brought to Dubai for treatment under the auspices of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment after the young man had lost both his feet in an Israeli bombardment on a neighborhood in Gaza.

The Crown Prince offered the young Palestinian medical support to let him stand again and promised to provide all forms of aid and assistance to overcome his ordeal.

The feet of Khalil Aljdeili , a native of the Gaza Strip - were blown away in the bombing by the Israeli occupation forces. The Israeli attack also pulled down his grandmother's home and took the life of his bother Mohannad while he was looking on.

In an attempt to bring the smile back to the young Palestinian's face and reduce the mental trauma he has been experiencing since the time of the attack, Sheikh Hamdan took him on a cruise around the Dubai lagoons and let him practice one of his favorite sports - diving- in defiance of his handicap.

This heart rendering humanitarian gesture was documented by a young Emirati photographer and film director Ali Khalifa Bin Thalith, whose camera and moviemaking talent made a short documentary film depicting the early life of Khalil in Gaza, his struggle, the Israeli attack, the death of his brother and the loss of his feet in the bombing. The documentary narrates the journey of the young man to Dubai for treatment in a noble gesture by the Crown Prince and the hope it brought back to his mind.

The Emirati artist hailed the humanitarian initiative of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and said that this is another expression of the well known benevolence of the UAE rulers and their family members.

The documentary film entitled 'The Gaza Diver' will be screened soon on a number of television channels, disclosed the director.

Meanwhile, the young Palestinian expressed his profound gratitude to Sheikh Hamdan for this kind humanitarian gesture, which brought the light of hope into his life and resistance.
