UAE participates in meetings of World Heritage Committee in Brazil

WAM Brasilia, July 28th, 2010 (WAM) -- UAE is participating in the 34th Session of the World Heritage Committee meeting being held in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia from 25th July to 3rd August. Mohammed Khamis AlMuhairi, Director General of the National Council for Tourism and Antiquities is leading UAE delegation in the meetings in the presence of Yusuf Ali Abdul Rahman Al Osaimi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil in addition to a large number of international experts in the field of archaeology. UAE joined the World Heritage Committee in 2009 and become one of the member among 21 states. UAE is participating in the meetings for the first time and this will give an opportunity to train national cadres and gain experience and skills in the field of preservation and conservation of cultural and natural heritage by gaining from the experiences of other countries participating in the meetings.
