WAM Port-au-Prince, Feb. 9th, 2010 (WAM) -- The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charitable Foundation convoy today arrived at Port-au-Prince, Haiti to distribute relief items to earthquake victims.

The convoy included seven trucks carrying 200 tons of food, medical aid and humanitarian supplies to implement the second phase, which was ordered by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide emergency aid to Haiti after the damage and loss resulting from the earthquake.

The aid program is carried out to meet urgent and necessary needs of victims in coordination with the Government of the Dominican Republic.

The convoy purchased about 500 tons of emergency relief and essential supplies directly from the local market in the Dominican Republic and transported it by land to Haiti.

Around 8000 families in Haiti benefitted from Khalifa Foundation humanitarian aid that included water, food, infants' milk, medical supplies and other humanitarian goods.
