Mohammed bin Zayed receives defense ministers of Afghanistan, France

Abu Dhabi, 22 Feb. 2009 (WAM) - General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces today received at his office in Abu Dhabi International Exhibitions Centre Abdul Rahim Wardak, Afghanistan's Minister of Defence.

Sheikh Mohammed and Wardak discussed during the meeting bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as the UAE's keenness to stand by the Afghani people and to continue its humanitarian support in a way that will contribute in rebuilding the national institutions and to alleviate hardship currently endured by the people of Afghanistan.

The Afghani Defence Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the UAE for the unlimited support given to the people of Afghanistan.

Afterwards, Sheikh Mohammed received Herve Morin, French Defence Minister, and discussed with him ways to expand ties of cooperation, particularly in defence and military fields.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the progress of relations between the two countries. He also spoke about the importance of IDEX 2009 which has shown the world's growing confidence in the UAE potentials and abilities in organising such a large event.

The French minister lauded the success made by IDEX year after year, thanks to the support given by the country's wise leadership.

The two meetings were attended by Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
