|  | Dubai organizes 1st World Electronic Game ChampionshipAug 29, 2008 - 12:09 - WAM Dubai, Aug.28th, 2008 (WAM) -- Dubai will host the biggest gaming exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa Region, the Dubai World Game Expo (DWGE) from October 28 to 30 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre. To be organised by Index Conferences and Exhibitions - member of Index Holding, in conjunction with the Dubai International Character and Licensing fair. The show will be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and is devoted to introduce a wide variety of computer games, including entertaining video games software, online gaming, mobile games, game related hardware, and next-generation platforms, together with opportunities to actually feel them. The DWGE is expected to bring in Key players in the global gaming industry, including software and hardware developers, mobile games Developers, network and telecommunication specialists, merchandising and licensing agencies, educational institutions, entertainment professionals and representatives and much more. Two Major activities highlights the agenda of the Dubai World Game Expo, first activity is the Dubai World Game Summit, sponsored by Nokia. The summit will hold sessions to discuss vital and recent updates on the mobile and online Gaming, Game Development, Media and Entertainment. A press conference was held today to announce the launch of the second activity - The Dubai World Game Championship at the Time Square Centre - sheikh Zayed Road. The Championship is expected to attract more than 10,000 gamers from across the region, where competition will take place over four games; Counter Strike, Pro Evolution Soccer, Top Spin Tennis, and Need for Speed. The championship will last for eight weekends starting August 29th and ending on October 18th.Five of the UAE's busiest malls will witness the competition, naming; Times Square Centre, Al Ain Mall, Outlet Mall, Marina Mall and Magic Planet at the Mall of Emirates. Only five winners will form the first National Team of the UAE which will be vying for the World Cyber Games Finals at Cologne, Germany this coming November.
